Website updates

November 20th, 2008

You might notice a couple of changes to the website.  Today I added some increased content and functionality.  The idea is to add some of the 2.0 features available to web developers for your enjoyment.

First, I syndicated Kelli’s blog into our site.  Now when Kelli makes a post on her site, you’ll see the post mirrored here.  This should allow members of our extended family looking to keep up on our family to hit one site and get the skinny.

Secondly, the website has a new flickr badge with a creative badge for displaying our family flickr photos.  While the other pictures display was sufficient, it only displayed the most recent photos.  I wanted something that showed all of the photos in the feed.

Another neat addition is the twitter update.  When I make an update to the website, it will automatically create a tweet letting my followers know I’ve made a new post.  For those of you who got here as a result of this feature, please let me know your thoughts as I can see how this might not be a desirable feature for some.

Lastly, I made some changes to content regarding me specifically.  The bio I’m writing is now displayed in the links section in the sidebar along with a new page called “Justin’s Lifestream”.  This page tracks my online actions and combines them into one stream for people to see.  So, if you want to see what books I’m reading, videos I’m watching, or sites I’m visiting, just go to http://www.thewoodsfamily.ws/justins-page/justins-lifestream or click on the link in the sidebar.
